Pressure Putting (Points System)

Pressure Putting (Points System) is a performance drill from The Adaptive Golfer. Accumulate points on 5-foot putts under an elimination format — reach 21 before three misses. It trains execution under pressure, and your result is measured as Practice Strokes Gained against your handicap band.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

Here's Pressure Putting, the points system. It trains a routine that stays identical whether you just made a putt or just missed one. Place a ball five feet from the hole. You are racing to twenty one points before you record three misses. A make is worth three points. Use your full three phase routine on every putt, then step away and fully reset. A lip out, or a ball that touches the hole without falling, is worth one point. A clean miss is zero points and a strike. Three strikes ends the game. The routine must be identical across every emotional state. For a mid handicap, aim to reach eighteen to twenty one points before the third miss. Log every rep in The Adaptive Golfer.

How to do Pressure Putting (Points System)

SET UP

Place a ball at 5 feet. Scoring: a make is 3 points, a lip-out or ball touching the hole without falling is 1 point, a clean miss is 0. The goal is to reach 21 points before recording three misses.

RUN IT

Use the full three-phase routine on every putt. After each make, step away and fully reset — no re-putting without a complete routine. After a miss, record a strike; three strikes ends the game. Record the points accumulated before the third miss.

PROGRESS

Move from 5 feet to 7. Keep the point structure but lower the benchmark by 4 points.

COMMON MISTAKE

Rushing the routine after a make or stretching it after a miss. The routine must be identical across emotional states — that consistency is the skill being built.
